On April 15, the National Harbor waterfront became home to a monumental new message of conservation. In partnership with world-renowned Australian artists Gillie and Marc, National Harbor officially unveiled the Wildlife Wonder Boat, an interactive bronze sculpture designed to raise global awareness for endangered species.
Standing an impressive 10 feet high and stretching 36 feet long, the sculpture made its international debut on World Art Day. Located near the Spirit Park Carousel, the piece invites visitors not just to look, but to engage directly with art that carries a heavy message of hope.

Art with a Mission
The Wildlife Wonder Boat is a modern reimagining of Noah’s Ark, featuring 24 bronze animal figures. Led by the artists’ signature characters, Rabbitwoman and Dogman—who symbolize guardianship and love—the boat carries a passenger list of the world’s most vulnerable creatures. From the emperor penguin and Bengal tiger to the pangolin and giant octopus, the sculpture highlights the diversity of life currently threatened by extinction.
“Wildlife Wonder Boat is our modern-day Noah’s Ark—a powerful symbol of hope, unity, and the urgent need for conservation,” said artists Gillie and Marc. “We wanted to create a work that brings people together in a joyful, uplifting way, while also inspiring reflection on the beauty of wildlife.”
Supporting the Cause
National Harbor is doing more than just hosting the art; they are actively funding the mission. From April 15 through April 19, National Harbor will donate $2 from every Spirit Park Carousel ticket sold to the Love the Last Wildlife Fund.
This nonprofit, founded by the artists, directs money toward critical on-the-ground conservation projects, including breeding programs and habitat protection.
For families looking to visit later in the season, The Capital Wheel is offering a $24 kids’ package through the end of the year. The bundle includes a ticket for the Wheel and the Carousel, a treat of Dippin’ Dots, and a $2 donation to the wildlife fund.

A World-Class Addition to the Art Walk
Gillie and Marc are no strangers to the global stage. Described by The New York Times as “the most successful and prolific creators of public art in New York’s history,” their work spans over 250 cities. Their partnership with National Harbor marks a significant addition to the destination’s existing Art Walk.
“We are honored to host this incredible sculpture for the year,” said Deborah Topcik, senior director of marketing at National Harbor. “Over the years, we have curated an art collection for people to engage with and learn from, and Wildlife Wonder Boat is a perfect addition.”
