The Bowie State University Bulldogs secured its first win of the season against Livingstone College in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) matchup this past Saturday.
The Bulldogs used a big 207-yard output on the ground and two rushing touchdowns to pick up a 31-17 win.
Kevin Taylor led BSU’s passing attack with 145 yards through the air, tossing two touchdowns and one interception. The signal caller also added 47 yards and one touchdown on the ground.
Micah Robinson paced the Bulldogs rushing attack by accumulating 71 yards throughout the game, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. Curtis Murray also added 48 yards on the ground, averaging 4.4 yards per carry while Joseph Towler reeled in four catches for 64 yards and one touchdown on the day.
Mekhi Williams showed out for the Bulldogs defense, recording eight tackles, 1.0 TFL, and two interceptions while Jordan Williams added one interception in the win.
The Bulldogs won the turnover battle in Saturday’s game, forcing three turnovers while coughing the ball up two times, with Bowie State turning those takeaways into 14 points. BSU had a big outing on the ground, totaling 207 rushing yards while averaging 4.1 yards per carry and out-rushing Livingstone by 65 yards.
Defensively, the Bulldogs held up fairly well against the LC offensive attack, holding the Blue Bears to 250 total yards. Bowie State kept Livingstone under 150 yards on both the ground and through the air, allowing 108 passing and 142 rushing yards. BSU’s defense disrupted the Livingstone passing attack on the way to recording three interceptions and breaking up two Blue Bears passes.
