In this Q&A, Romero shares his plans for responsible growth, public safety, and his commitment to ensuring every voice in the district has a seat at the table.

1. What is your primary motivation for running for local council, and what are your top three priorities for the district?
   
   I’m running to make a lasting impact and ensure our leadership reflects the district we are today. Our community has evolved, and our government must evolve with it. My top priorities are improving our schools, lowering the cost of living, and attracting quality businesses that bring jobs, services, and long-term growth.
   
   
2. How do you plan to support local small businesses and entrepreneurs within Prince George’s County?
   
   Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. I will expand access to capital, technical assistance, and county contracting opportunities while cutting unnecessary red tape. I’ll also strengthen our commercial corridors to attract investment and increase foot traffic. My goal is simple: make it easier to start, grow, and sustain a business while building stronger connections between local businesses and our community.
   
   
3. How will you ensure that the voices of all residents, especially those in underrepresented areas, are heard in the decision-making process?
   
   Engagement must be consistent and inclusive. I will host regular roundtables with community leaders, faith groups, and residents, while maintaining open communication through meetings and partnerships. I will also establish a community advisory network to ensure underrepresented voices are heard. True engagement means making residents part of the decision-making process every day—not just during elections.
   
   
4. What specific improvements do you advocate for regarding local infrastructure, public safety, or transit?
   
   I will work to reduce congestion by expanding transit options, adding bus routes, and improving access to transit hubs. I support enforcing HOV lanes during peak hours to ease traffic. For public safety, I will promote data-driven policing strategies and strengthen neighborhood watch programs to ensure resources are focused where they are needed most.
   
   
5. What steps should the council take to promote environmental sustainability and green spaces in our community?
   
   We must grow responsibly while protecting our environment. I will ensure development includes green space, expand trails across the district, and invest in cleaner air and water. I also support enhancing parks, promoting conservation education, and implementing solutions like rain gardens and bioswales. Smart growth will guide our approach to sustainability.
   
   
6. How can the council better support local youth programs and educational initiatives outside of the school system?
   
   I will support partnerships with nonprofits to expand mentoring and tutoring programs. Investing in after-school programs, sports, summer camps, and career pathways like internships and apprenticeships will give our youth the tools they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
   
   
7. What is one specific project or policy you hope to be remembered for at the end of your term?
   
   I want to be remembered for improving education and expanding opportunities for every student—whether through college or career pathways like the skilled trades—so all young people have a clear path to success.
   
   
8. What is your favorite local spot in Prince George’s County to relax or grab a meal?
   
   I enjoy walking around Granville Gude Park and Lakehouse and connecting with residents. I’m also a big fan of Los Primos Mexican Restaurant and La Casita Pupuseria—great local spots along Route 1.
