Prince George’s County officials recently announced that Sprouts Farmers Market, the celebrated specialty retailer known for its focus on organic and natural foods, will serve as the anchor for the retail portion of Westphalia Towne Center.
This 23,000-square-foot addition represents more than just a new grocery store; it is a response to years of community advocacy for high-quality, health-conscious retail options. Located along the Route 4 corridor, the development is designed as a walkable, mixed-use hub where residential life meets modern convenience.
A Win for Community Wellness
For many in District 6, the arrival of Sprouts is a milestone for local health. District 6 Councilmember Danielle Hunter emphasized that this development aligns with the “Succeeding in Six” initiative, focusing on growth that directly improves the daily lives of residents.
“Access to fresh, high-quality food is about more than convenience — it is about health, dignity, and opportunity,” Councilmember Hunter noted. “When we talk about healthier communities, we must recognize that food is medicine.”

The project, developed by Walton Global with leasing managed by Heritage Partners, is expected to act as a catalyst for further investment in the area. County Executive Aisha N.
